The foundation of the company: the history and mission of President Artur Sawastian

The resilient character of APS Profit and our sensitivity to the needs of others are the direct merit of the company’s President, Artur Sawastian. His unique personal and professional experience, gathered over decades in regions affected by humanitarian crises, is today the foundation and the compass for our entire team.

A leader with a mission – the road of humanitarian experience:

Long missions in war zones shaped the President’s conviction that help cannot be a one-off gesture but an attitude. His commitment also extends to the patronage of knowledge and culture. He supported, financially and substantively, the publication of the academic work “Discourse of war as a discourse of help” by Marcin Poletylo, and donated multimedia equipment to organisations working with refugees in Europe (for example Belziger Forum e.V. in Germany).

The 1990s – the conflict in the Balkans
Right after war broke out in the former Yugoslavia, Artur Sawastian became involved in direct aid as a volunteer, supporting civilian victims of the fighting.
1993 – 2003 – work in UN structures and international organisations
For a decade he served as a staff member and head of branches of international relief organisations and UN missions in the Balkans. He organised material and medical aid and took part in the post-war reconciliation of communities.
2003 – 2004 – humanitarian mission in Chechnya
As head of a humanitarian organisation’s branch he led relief operations for the people of Chechnya affected by a brutal armed conflict.
From 2022 – an immediate answer to the war in Ukraine
The President’s own experience translated into an immediate mobilisation of APS Profit from the first days of the war. Under his leadership the company organised medical transports directly to the combat zones, provided free accommodation, legal care and language support, and co-founded the “Malenka Kraina” kindergarten for Ukrainian children in Poland. It is precisely thanks to the attitude of Artur Sawastian that the APS Profit team is not afraid of social challenges and carries out the mission of responsible business with full commitment.

Three pillars of supporting the community

Humanitarian aid and crisis response
Experience in crisis management lets us act efficiently and without delay. We support refugees, organise transports of medicines and dressings to the front line, help with official matters (PESEL, residence cards), with accommodation and with full professional and social adaptation.
Local involvement, culture and education
We do not forget our immediate surroundings. As a patron and partner we support integration initiatives (among them “Spiewanie przy trzepaku”, singing by the carpet rail, and “Wspolne Podworko”, a shared backyard), we donate computers to cultural institutions (GOK Dabrowa Biskupia), we support local schools (“Szkola na medal”) and we take part in charity collections and in helping animals (for example the “Stoczniowe Koty” campaign for shipyard cats).
An ethical labour market and international cooperation
We combine the standards of an employment agency with care for human safety. We work with Polish labour offices and with partners from all over Europe (among others initiatives with partners from Germany and Croatia), proving that flexibility of the labour market must go hand in hand with full respect for workers’ rights.
